Originally, I thought I'd blog about the 20th edition of Broadway Bares each week, but I thought I had more time after the Tonys.  So, instead, I'll be blogging about it the rest of the week.  Hope that's ok...




Broadway Bares VI: Less is More

Where: The Palladium
How much was raised: $76,000
Firsts: This was the first year of a Broadway Bares Theme Song, written by a Broadway composer.  This year's song: "Grin and Bare It"




Broadway Bares VII: The Barest Show on Earth

Directed by: Jerry Mitchell
When: May 4, 1997
Where: Webster Hall
How much was raised: $140,000! (almost double the previous year)
Theme: The Circus
Opening Number: "The Barest Show on Earth"
Firsts: MAC joined as the first annual corporate sponsor, and SpotCo developed a complete advertising campaign.  There were over 100 dancers and a custom built set.



Broadway Bares VIII: Peep Show

Directed by: Jerry Mitchell
When: May 10, 1998
Where: Webster Hall
How much was raised: $160,000!
Theme: Mother Goose
Opening Number: "Peep Show"
Firsts: Major celebrities were no longer just hosting, they are performing.




Broadway Bares IX: Calendar Girl

Directed by: Jerry Mitchell
When: May 23, 1999
Where: Roseland Ballroom
How much was raised: $226,000
Theme: The Calendar/Holidays
Opening Number: None this Year
Firsts: The show moved to its current home, the Roseland Ballroom.




Broadway Bares X: 10 Years of Sass, Class and Ass

Directed by: Jerry Mitchell
When: May 2000
Where: Roseland Ballroom
How much was raised: $283,000
Theme: Greatest Hits of the Past Shows
Opening Number: None this Year
Firsts: With the more permanent set and larger space, more dancers, and designers for each number, vintage numbers were revamped and restaged.
