HERE'S WHAT'S NEW:

Well, my "little vacation" ended up lasting two and a half years... funny how life steers your life in directions you weren't planning on. I'll start off with occasional posts, but I fully plan to resume this blog to full speed by the new year.

I hope you'll come back for frequent visits, to see new reviews, to share opinions, to take a survey (or two), and to celebrate the shows and show people that have made the TheatreScene!

21st Century Broadway

The first ten seasons on Broadway in the new millennium were exciting, boring, new, old, and everything in between.  Like always, the Great White Way has been reportedly dying, but always seems to get a boost when needed.  This is the decade that saw the community come together after 9/11, to fight AIDS and a variety of health and social issues.  It was a time of unions exerting themselves, of the Internet explosion.  Off-Broadway became the try-out town, punk rock made its Main Stem debut, and puppets ruled the stage with witches.  And everything old was new again... just ask Frank, Frankie, Bjorn, Billy, Stephen and Angela... Dance came and went and came back again, and movies became even more of a starting point for a show.  And movie stars brightened the box office, and angered the Broadway babies.

In other words, for the most part, it was business as usual.

Here are links to my entire series of blogs that celebrate 10 seasons on Broadway during the 21st Century.  Enjoy!
